Child’s Place was built on the belief that children shouldn’t have to navigate disconnected systems when there are concerns of abuse. By bringing professionals, services, and support together, we help create a response shaped around the needs of each child and caregiver.
A Children’s Advocacy Center for Southwest Minnesota
Child’s Place is a Children’s Advocacy Center based in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, providing a child-focused response when there are concerns of child abuse.
We provide a setting where children can participate in a forensic interview and caregivers can receive support while law enforcement, child protection, prosecutors, medical providers, mental health professionals, and advocates work together as a multidisciplinary team.
This coordinated approach brings the professionals involved in a child’s case together, reducing unnecessary duplication and helping children and caregivers navigate systems that can otherwise feel complicated and overwhelming.
At the center of it all is one goal: to make a difficult experience better for the child.
Our Story
Child’s Place began with a belief that children in southwest Minnesota deserved a child-centered response when there were concerns of abuse. What began as a local effort has grown through collaboration, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to keeping children at the center of the response.
2012
The Work Begins
Local professionals came together to bring the Children’s Advocacy Center model to Redwood County.
2016
A Coordinated Response Takes Shape
The Redwood County Children’s Advocacy Center was operating through multidisciplinary partnerships, bringing professionals together around the needs of children and families.
2020
Child’s Place Is Established
The center transitioned to become Child’s Place, an independent nonprofit, expanding the vision for a coordinated, child-centered response throughout southwest Minnesota.
Today
Continuing to Grow
Child’s Place continues strengthening the child-centered response across southwest Minnesota through forensic interviews, advocacy, multidisciplinary collaboration, education, and partnerships.
Through every stage of that growth, the belief at the heart of the work has remained the same: children should be at the center of the response.
As Child’s Place has grown, so has our ability to bring that response together — connecting professionals, services, and support around the unique needs of each child and caregiver.
Coordination Begins With Relationships
At Child’s Place, coordination begins with relationships. We believe children and caregivers are best served when professionals know one another, trust one another, communicate openly, and work together to respond to the unique needs of every child and family.
That kind of coordination doesn’t happen simply because agencies share a case. It is built over time — through communication, shared responsibility, and a willingness to understand the role each professional plays in supporting a child and family.
Child’s Place helps create the space for those relationships to work. We bring multidisciplinary partners together, help keep communication moving, and support a response in which each professional contributes their expertise while the needs of the child remain at the center.
