CornerHouse Advanced Forensic Interview Training
This training is designed to provide multiple opportunities for professionals to expand the scope of expertise surrounding their forensic interviewing practice. Topics have been selected based on requests from the field and will build upon the foundational knowledge and skills that learners have developed to this point.
Courtroom Advocacy for Non-Legal Advocates
This training helps participants gain skills and practical tools in how they can support families in the court process. We will also build knowledge on how the court system works and defines court terms that most laypersons may not understand without legal training.
Interviewing Children Who Witnessed Violence
Trauma can affect children mentally and physically, even when they haven’t been physically hurt themselves. The session focuses on conducting interviews that consider the child’s emotional state and working closely with investigators for a thorough and compassionate approach.
Training for Advocates Working with a CAC
First Witness Child Advocacy Center’s advocacy program bridges the gap between individual advocacy with one victim and system-based advocacy that creates change for many victims. VINE and Haven: Understanding Minnesota’s Two Victim Notification Systems
Providing notification to victims when an incarcerated person is released or has a change in custody status is an essential safety tool for crime victims. In this webinar, the presenters will review the features of each system and the process to request notifications as well as highlight their differences.

Forensic Interviewing with High-Risk Youth: Identifying and Responding to Trafficking Concerns
Children identified as potential trafficking/exploitation victims present many challenges in the forensic interview. Challenges range from reluctance to disclose information to the disclosure of multiple victimizations by numerous offenders occurring in various locations. This training will equip interviewers with skills to effectively plan for and conduct the high-risk or trafficking interview.
More Than One Interview: When, Why, and How
This training will review supportive literature, introduce a decision-making process for selecting appropriate cases, and guidance for conducting follow-up forensic interviews. Recommendations for explaining and defending the multi-session approach is included.
Mind the Gap
Mind the Gap is an advanced training designed for advocates who have already completed a comprehensive 24-hour Advocacy Training. This course builds upon the foundational principles of victim advocacy.
Reading the Room: The Importance of Understanding Body Language in Forensic Interviews
participants will learn about the importance of being able to recognize body language cues in forensic interviews and to what extent they happen subconsciously. We will discuss how body language cues may be dependent on a child’s age, culture, and experiences.
Interviewing Children on the Autism Spectrum
Children with neuro-divergent disorders such as ASD are at an increased risk of child maltreatment. This training will focus on tips for information gathering, preparation with the investigative partners to set reasonable expectations, and adaptations to questioning strategies and interview phases.
Follow-up Forensic Interviews
This one-day advanced training prepares forensic interviewers to conduct developmentally sensitive, legally sound follow-up interviews with children in abuse investigations. Participants begin with a historical overview of how concerns about “multiple interviews” shaped past practice, followed by a review of current research and professional guidance supporting individualized, case-informed decisions about when additional interviews are appropriate.

ChildFirst® Expanded Forensic Interview
This training training provides a purposeful and legally defensible process for conducting expanded forensic interviews with children who may not succeed in a standard, single interview due to trauma, developmental, special needs or other complicating issues, including polyvictimization.
Effective Case Tracking Processes for CACs and MDTs
This training describes how CACs and MDTs can develop and maintain effective case tracking processes, tracking essential information from the day of the interview through final potential criminal convictions.
